Way to the Web Ltd (the company behind ConfigServer) has announced they will close permanently on August 31, 2025.

After this date:

Commercial products (ConfigServer Exploit Scanner, Outgoing Spam Monitor, MailScanner Front-End) will stop working entirely if not updated to the latest version before August 31st.

Free scripts (ConfigServer Security & Firewall, Mail Queues, Mail Manage, ModSecurity Control, Explorer) will keep running, but won’t receive updates or be available for new installs.

No downloads, license transfers, or support will be available from the vendor, making it impossible to reinstall or move to new servers

What you need to do NOW?

Check what ConfigServer software you're using and update products immediately. Refer to our guidance on how to do this on your cPanel/WHM server.

Download and back up installers for free scripts from the ConfigServer website while still available before August 31st

Activate unused commercial licenses now so they remain usable

Looking ahead:

ConfigServer may release csf (Security & Firewall) as open source - watch their GitHub repository

While this was third-party software, we are are committed to ensuring cPanel & WHM users continue to have access to strong, reliable server security. We are actively evaluating options to deliver the firewall and protection features you’ve relied on, directly within cPanel & WHM. You can follow our updates and share feedback on how you use CSF and what you’d like to see next on our cPanel & WHM Roadmap.
