VirtFusion is a very solid option, and if you’re looking for a VPS control panel, it's definitely worth considering. It makes assumptions that you know what you’re doing, which also allows for greater flexibility. It also uses more modern conventions for managing everything.
For operating system templates, you can use the ones they built, or you could build your own, or use the operating system provided generic cloud images. The use of cloud-init definitely makes everything easy from a provider's standpoint in terms of offering a variety of options. I’m not very familiar with other modern options, but compared to the more legacy panels, it’s years ahead of them.
