I am trying to install Plesk on Windows Server 2025. Since PowerShell 2.0 is deprecated, I’m getting an error. Please help me fix this.
it used to work on Windows Server 2022 with PowerShell 2.0.

Hello, @enthu19 . Starting with the September 2025 update, Windows Server 2025 no longer includes Windows PowerShell 2.0, however, the same is needed by Web Deploy. We do have a registered bug with ID PPPM-15153 about this issue. Until the issue is resolved, please follow this workaround:

PowerShell 2.0 removal from Windows - Microsoft Support

  1. PowerShell 2.0 removal from Windows - Microsoft Support
  2. Connect to the Plesk server via RDP.
  3. Download the ps2DLC.zip file from the official Microsoft website
  4. Extract the ps2DLC.zip file to a folder of your choice.
  5. Start a PowerShell window in admin mode.
  6. Change to the folder containing the extracted PowerShell 2.0 files.
  7. Run the following command: .\loadGAC.ps1

I hope that helps!

We have released an update today which fixes the issue with the Microsoft Web Deploy installation due to the missing PowerShell 2.0 component. If you have automatic updates enabled this update should be installed automatically overnight. Plesk Obsidian 18.0.75:

Fixed the issue where Microsoft Web Deploy could not be installed on Windows Server 2025 due to the missing PowerShell 2.0 component. (PPPM-15153)

Please let us know if you face any further issues.
