Hi everyone,

I'm currently running a small cloud hosting business and using Virtualizor as my cloud platform. I chose it mainly because it's easy to use, affordable, and integrates well with WHMCS.

However, I'm looking to explore other options and would really appreciate any recommendations or experiences from fellow members here. I'm particularly interested in platforms that are:
- User-friendly for both admin and clients
- Support WHMCS integration
- Reliable and scalable
- Cost-effective for small to mid-sized operations

So far, I've looked into a few like Proxmox, SolusVM, and VirtFusion, but I’d love to hear real-world feedback from those who’ve used them in production.

What cloud platform are you using for your hosting business, and why? Any pros and cons you'd like to share?

Thanks in advance!

At this point, Proxmox sounds like a great alternative and works quite well. Pros -> Community Support.

I use OpenStack with KVM as the hypervisor and use Osie which has integration with WHMCS as well. Its indeed complex but I like the features available for VPS and bare metal.

OpenStack is best option. Initially you may find it complex but in long run it will he very useful and there will be no major change required when you grown.

The only real choice is Proxmox.

Why get a "user-friendly" platform that's owned by a company that will just sell it to cPanel's owners and raise the prices on you? Get your hands dirty with the free and open-source option and stay in control.

One factor worth weighing is the ownership and roadmap stability of the platform. A lot of smaller panels have changed hands in recent years, which often leads to pricing shifts or abandoned features. That is why many hosts stick with Proxmox or OpenStack long term, since even if they require more work up front, you are not suddenly locked into a vendor’s new pricing model a few years down the line.

Are you manually managing the virtual servers through the softwares you are using like proxmox, Virtuozzo?
Are you looking for any kind of automation along with WHMCS integration ?

I’ve worked with most of the platforms you mentioned.
Proxmox is solid and stable but not very client-friendly without custom work. SolusVM feels outdated, and VirtFusion is clean but still evolving fast.

If you want something that’s easy to manage, works well with WHMCS, and doesn’t break the bank, Virtualizor is still a good choice — especially if you optimize the templates and API side. The key is automating deployments and monitoring, not necessarily switching panels.

Hope that helps a bit — happy to share some automation tips if you want.

Virtualizor and solusvm are alternatives to each other because they offer a framework that includes whmcs modules. All other options may result in more costs and headaches due to third-party integrations.
