I see so many red flags.
No response to support tickets the last 4 days and the there servers start to drop one by one on network-status
https://www.madcityservers.com/network-status

I already jumped out of the sinking ship, moved all my files and data to another host

There are signs on the site ...

Such as them saying "Cpanel" instead of "cPanel", "Amd" instead of "AMD", and other weird capitalizations like "Amd kvm Vps Servers"

Their template/theme looks to be an off-the shelf one as well.

I get it that 'the price is right,' but these are red flags that should be visible before you sign up, and I only looked at their front page.

I'm sorry you're having a bad experience with them though - and I'm glad you were able to get out.

Never good when a provider disappears - but if I had to guess, it's probably just one person. Who knows - maybe they got hurt/are in the hospital/something. That's one of the big downsides of a one-man operation

Sounds as though they're not paying their server/colo costs and the provider(s) are gradually suspending the servers as they come up for renewal.

Just speculation, of course.

Either way, good that you had a backup and were able to move to another host. Unfortunately, we see cases like this all too often where people do not have backups.

So, you can look up this LLC registration for the State of Illinois... but it doesn't look too good:

Entity Name MADCITYSERVERS LLC
Status INVOLUNTARY DISSOLUTION on 05-10-2024

So MadCityServers LLC is not a legitimate registered business at the moment... take that for what you will..

Apparently the owner, Brian Warren passed away back in 2024.

No clue who took it over or who is running the site now as there's no legitimate legal entity to tie things back to...

I know Brian as a customer and I can say he is not a scammer. He is a kind and professional person. He had a serious brain infection back in 2024 and based on the current silence, I think he is sick again.

Looks like he passed away in 2024.

hello.

According to Mad City, their customer portal was hacked, and they charged me $3,500 USD out of nowhere. I've been with them since November. I contacted them via email and a support ticket, and they replied saying they couldn't do anything for me and that I should check with PayPal through a dispute.

I've already moved my three VPS servers that I had with them, and now I'm waiting for PayPal to help me recover the money they charged me illegally.

One of my servers was down, and since they didn't respond for a day, I migrated it and backed up my other two client servers.

It was working perfectly, then suddenly it failed. Be careful...

In November, when I hired their services, Brian assisted me very well. After that, he stopped putting his name on the support ticket. I doubt Brian still works at that company.

Guys. The owner is not deceased... I talked to him last year after that other thread. But he did have big medical issues from what I gathered. Looks like based on their status page their service was compromised.

That's great to hear he's not deceased.

It does make it worse however that he's running a company without any valid corporate documentation and now has gotten fully compromised...
