I see so many red flags.
No response to support tickets the last 4 days and the there servers start to drop one by one on network-status
https://www.madcityservers.com/network-status

I already jumped out of the sinking ship, moved all my files and data to another host

Make sure to change your root password and check any suspicious files.

The way I see it, it seems their data has been compromised, including all clients' data. I hope not.

You're not alone. That's unexpected.

They are tossing the baby out with the bathwater. I'm sure "that other forum" is having a field day with it.

I can't really quite put into words my feelings on that notice message...

I sure do hope refunds were issued for everyone who lost data...

The link above is broken, but checking the home page it redirects you to https://www.chicagoservers.org where you see this message…

Down for Maintenance (Err 3)
Due to Madcityservers being hacked we had to start over. We are now ChicagoServers If your server is online now it will remain online. We lost 4 nodes in New York and an ip range in LAX was compromised due to this hack. We were able to restore access again to that subnet in LAX and those servers are now online. Since we have no user data base anymore we will be adding your email and server server to our system manually. It will take a few days. You will receive an email from [email protected] to reset your password. Those who do not reset their password will have their server suspended. We are not charging for services at all next month. Sorry for this issue. We had some servers on Madcityservers deleted by the hacker. We didnt want anymore. There were a lot of servers deleted in Miami. If you had a server in Miami and it is offline then it is one of the ones deleted. We will open up registrations in a few days once we get everything working again. We would like to thank Lowend **** talk for all the traffic they have brought to this site. We will be live soon.

That's great to hear he's not deceased.

It does make it worse however that he's running a company without any valid corporate documentation and now has gotten fully compromised...

Yeah... got nothing to say about that

Guys. The owner is not deceased... I talked to him last year after that other thread. But he did have big medical issues from what I gathered. Looks like based on their status page their service was compromised.

In November, when I hired their services, Brian assisted me very well. After that, he stopped putting his name on the support ticket. I doubt Brian still works at that company.

hello.

According to Mad City, their customer portal was hacked, and they charged me $3,500 USD out of nowhere. I've been with them since November. I contacted them via email and a support ticket, and they replied saying they couldn't do anything for me and that I should check with PayPal through a dispute.

I've already moved my three VPS servers that I had with them, and now I'm waiting for PayPal to help me recover the money they charged me illegally.

One of my servers was down, and since they didn't respond for a day, I migrated it and backed up my other two client servers.

It was working perfectly, then suddenly it failed. Be careful...
