Hello,

I tried using Cloudflare.
Now my sites are running very very slow.

Are there Do's and Don'ts with Cloudflare Settings and Options?
Any thoughts please?

Thank You

Depends, if you are a business customer with Telstra on IPV6 then it works in Au but for residential customers on IpV4 it doesn't.
It is a mess.
You are better off just using a provider that don't care how much bandwidth costs and that will just pay the price.
If you buy enough transit you get the bandwidth cheaper in Au anyway.
Telstra and the rest are not going to change their policies for one provider.

I'm a Telstra residential cable customer and still connect to Cloudflare Australia POPs

One of my client site is also working slow because of he is using CloudFlare. I don't know what is issue from CloudFlare.

Seems need to check his cloudflare setting. I think CF should introduce some feature to show when site is working slow and suggest edits.

Hello,

In normal case cloudflare will not slow the site. IN my experience the CDN service provided by cloudflare will improve speed and it will defenitely reflected in the gtmetrix report too. Do some testing with and without cloudflare and track the issue.

Also double check all dns entries are replicated in cloudflare while adding cloudflare for your site. Sometimes the dns query error may cause the mentioned slowness.

Our website <<snipped>> hosted on Cloudflare . The server is in the US. Access from Asia and Africa actually boost by 3-4 times. Very good. Just make sure you have a good server and don't mess with Cloudflare settings if you don't know what it does.

hello bro,
On the off chance that your site is running slower with Cloudflare, almost certainly, you have accomplished something incorrectly. Cloudflare CDN essentially simply store all your static record on your circulated framework around the globe so it is quicker to server them. In any case, in the event that your site is ease back to answer with html petitions for instance, your entire site will in any case be moderate

We use CloudFlare to achieve under 0.250 second page loads on average globally to our site, it is ALL about your settings and the servers you are deployed on.

One of the biggest performance increases you can get from CloudFlare is to use their 'Page Rules' properly.

To do this, you need to set up the rules with the bottom rule in your list at CF being the most aggressive, then the rules above it with filtered urls you need to limit cache on, i.e. login pages, member areas, etc.

For example on a WordPress powered site:

1. tunedcloud.com/wp-login.php*
[Security Level: High, Cache Level: Bypass, Disable Apps, Disable Performance]

2. tunedcloud.com/wp-admin/*
[Security Level: High, Cache Level: Bypass, Disable Apps, Disable Performance]

3. tunedcloud.com/*
[Browser Cache TTL: a day, Cache Level: Cache Everything, Edge Cache TTL: a day]

Notice page rule 3 caches everything for the entire site, the rules above will filter out cache, etc.

This is your first step, getting CF to properly cache your html.

I hope this helps!

How do you measure speed? If it's GTmetrix or WebPageTest speed scores, then CloudFlare is like throwing a hammer when what you need is a chisel, unless you are streaming videos and/or music!

Our clients have got 10/10 scores consistently across all geographical regions without any CDN. So unless it's video, audio streaming or you don't know what to do, a CDN will not do it for you.
