For mid-range dedicated boxes used for Kvm virtualization (small VPS density), I’m debating recent AMD Ryzen Epyc vs Intel Xeon Gold. If Ecc Ram support is included that would be great for me as well. I’d really appreciate your help and thank you in advance. have a nice day
I would lean toward AMD for new systems, as they generally offer better performance for the price. For mid-range virtualization setups, you could consider Ryzen or Threadripper CPUs, or even EPYC if you need higher memory capacity. Threadripper CPUs typically deliver performance similar to Ryzen but support more RAM, often with native ECC support such as RDIMM or LRDIMM modules
TBH, if you're looking for mid-range, that tells me you are not doing anything crazy, performance hog. If you're going to get a dedicated box, I would be more interested in backup. Is it a mini PC in a rack somewhere or a proper decent server instead of choosing between Intel and AMD. Yes, AMD in most circumstances has the crown, but Intel is still hovering in and out currently.
I would look at, Storage type, ECC RAM, Connectivity, and Backup long before worrying over AMD or Intel.

If you're looking for pure single-threaded performance, the AMD Ryzen will win. However, to get the full picture, you need to factor in cost and power usage as well. Depending on your situation, you might be better off in the secondary market and an older generation EPYC or Xeon Gold. You may be able to acquire a EPYC 7400 series or a Dual Gold Xeon 6200 series system for the same price point as building a latest generation AMD Ryzen or AMD EPYC 4005 series system.

The ratio of performance to price is not the single feature, which is selected by the people, which search for the hosting. I, for example, do not care very much about the performance, and prefer the hosting with the weaker Intel processors, instead of the hosting with the more powerful AMD processors, at the same price. I would prefer the IBM mainframe, with their native operating system, but I can not pay so much.

It seems you have some options. If you deploy the Xeons you already have, you will save some cost. But they are old CPUs. Performance isn't great either. However, some providers still use them.
I would personally dump or sell them and get new ones, as I don't have a use case for older CPUs. So it now depends on your specific use case.
